2026'S DESIGN

Painting or hanging a fú (Mandarin for "fortune") is a common way to celebrate the Lunar New Year and usher fortune to return, and this zodiac horse is kicking things up a notch with its powerful energy and ponytail as a giant calligraphy brush! Ink splatters send the traditional Happy New Years greeting in Chinese, with the loose English translation in the ink and inkwell below. The gold envelope also returns this year with a matching zodiac sticker seal that makes a Chinglish pun with "horse" (mǎ), saying "Have a Mǎ-velous New Year!"

ABOUT THE SERIES

As an Asian American, I designed these to bridge the gap between my Chinese and American cultures, increasing accessibility by breaking down language barriers and interpreting cultural traditions, ultimately encouraging engagement and sharing over New Years traditions regardless of the recipient’s background.

• Notecard format allows for writing and connection, similar to a traditional American greeting card, while decreasing the pressure of money-giving.
• Envelope allows for the continuation of Chinese money-giving tradition, if desired, at USPS’s single-stamp size for easy sending to far away loved ones.
